WOW!  Can you believe the Summer is almost gone?  Well, first of all, I would like to congratulate the 2000 Northern California All-Star Team. Cloverleaf Family Bowl had thirteen (13) youths make the team this year.  Hats off Brittany Hillman, Kirsten Sorensen, Emily Maier, Samantha Lawrence, Monica McAllister and Jennifer Jones for the girls.  In the boys divisions, Chris Hillman, Brandon Hillman, Devin Foley, Joseph Alalay, James Cagle, Darren Francisco, and Nolen Velasco Jr.  We are proud of all the Junior Bowlers here at Cloverleaf Family Bowl and we hope to have many more make the All Star teams next year.

With Summer almost over, it's time to sign up for our Fall session.  Our league schedule is available here on our website and also available here at the center.  So take a look and sign up for the league of your choice.  The Junior Scratch League will once again be on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m.  We have some of the best scratch bowlers in the Bay Area, so join the fun or just stop by and take a look.

I had the privilege of accompanying nineteen (19) of our junior bowlers to the Junior Olympic Gold National Championships in Las Vegas the week of July 19th through July 16th.  I was truly in awe of the magnitude of this event as were our juniors who were able to compete.  This was definitely the highest caliber of junior bowlers I have ever seen together in one single event.  There were 810 boys and girls coming from all over the United States as well as Canada and Puerto Rico.  The schedule was difficult with three 6 game blocks of qualifying on three different lane conditions.  The field was then cut to the top 80 boys and 31 girls for an additional 12 games.  The top 6 in the boys and girls divisions will represent the USA as new members of the 2001 Junior Olympic Team USA.  Jason Rehfeld and Nolen Velasco made the first cut.  Jason then advanced to the top sixteen and earned a $750.00 scholarship for his efforts.  We are very proud of their bowling and hope that some day they will make TEAM USA.

Pleas don't forget, The 3rd Annual Hillman Memorial Scholarship Tournament is on Sunday September 3, 2000 here at Cloverleaf Family Bowl.  A team event with three youth bowlers and two adult bowlers per team.  The cost is only $30.00 per bowler and we GUARANTEE $20,000.00 in SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded at this tournament.  This event is only open to the first 44 paid teams.  Please sign up early and reserve your team spot.  Please call me or Mike Hillman at (510) 656-4411.  We look forward to seeing you at the tournament.
